Timber is important! To that end we source and hand select tonewoods to find the best blend for a specific commission. We look for grain, figure, density and tone. We blend and mix timbers to get the acoustic tone we are seeking and match it to the style and pickups the guitarist wants.

Brazilian & Honduras Mahogany
smooth attack and a rich singing quality giving warm, rounded tones. A maple cap will provide brilliance and punchy lows. Used by Gibson on many models including the iconic late 50's Les Paul

Korina (Black or White)
beautifully resonant wood with all the characteristics of mahogany only more of everything. White Korina was used by Gibson for Flying V's.

moderate attack and smooth decay having a very
even, full and balanced tone with well defined highs and clear lows. Often used on mid to later Fender Stratocasters.

Swamp Ash
distinct ringing tones and produces transparent timbres with bell like overtones - alive and lightweight. Used on early Fender Telecasters and Stratocasters.

similar in many respects to Alder, though without perhaps the same sustain.

has some of the woody tones of mahogany and its warm bass response but also mids and trebles associated with Rosewood.

has bright tone and good sustain with plenty of bite. When used with mahogany it provides more brilliance and punchy lows.

has bright tone and good sustain with plenty of bite. When used with mahogany it provides more brilliance and punchy lows. Used as carved tops on icon late 50's Les Pauls.

has bright tone and good sustain with plenty of bite. When used with mahogany it provides more brilliance and punchy lows. First used as a standard tone wood on PRS custom 22 and Santana model.

has bright tone and good sustain with plenty of bite. When used with mahogany it provides more brilliance and punchy lows. Standard neck wood on Fender bolt on neck guitars.

Figured American Black Walnut
similar to the woody tones of mahogany and its warm bass but with the mids and trebles associated with Rosewood.

Tasmanian Blackwood/Koa
a close relative of koa, which has similar tonal characteristics to mahogany. As a top it tends to sit well with mahogany's tone spectrum.

we have limited stock of this rare tonewood which imparts a glassy tone being very resonant, producing deep bass response and brilliant trebles with a slow decay - very bell like.

Indian Rosewood
helps fatten up the midrange though highs tend to be dampened by the woods high oil content. Often used on Fender guitars instead of Maple.
